Old Photo – Kochubey – Filter of The Day from Filter Forge

  • March 29, 2010 9:00 am

A week ago the Filter of the Day was – Old Drawing.03  So I thought a complementary Old Photo might be in order. Its great fun playing with these filters that age your image. It almost immediately makes the picture appear to have more history and therefore so much more story telling power.Old Photo Filter Kochbey

OK so lets try it out – here is Betty – one of the characters I use as my avatar around the internet because she is far more attractive than me and actually looks good in a fur bikini and long boots – and indeed it is a rare breed who can – and I am not amongst that group. Anyway I digress. Take a look at the picture below. It is so much fun now to make up a story based on a worn out photo – rather than just a straight portrait.  I’ll give it a go.  Feel free to join in.

oooh Betty she was a dazzle on the trapeze

Story time

Sandy had never done anything like this before and couldn’t help looking around to see if anyone was taking notice of her. Surely they must be able to sense her levels of excitement as she sat down in the coffee shop and tried to look nonchalant. She needed to wait calmly for the Private Detective she had hired.

A rather grey and nondescript gentleman sat down opposite her when she was half way through her cappuccino and she had to wipe the froth from her mouth before greeting him. Sandy was surprised at how completely normal this man was. He could at least have warn a trilby or a long coat surely.

He spoke quietly but firmly, “I believe you have a photo to show me”,

“Yes” replied Sandy and gently laid down a small photo in front of the detective.

Sandy continued “My Dad gave me this when I was 10. He said she was known as ‘Ooh Betty’ , she used to travel with a circus. After I was born my Dad realised he couldn’t make her stay – so she left again. I want to find her or find out where she went.”

The detective took the photo and smiled at it. Sandy guessed he couldn’t help it, despite the age of the photo Betty still had a piercing look.

Old Drawing .03 – onnetz – Filter of the Day from Filter Forge

It is only right and proper that Old Drawing.03 is one of the Filters of the Day. Blurt used it only recently and it has already featured in Filter Forge Frenzy. Blurt had been out in the snow, taken a picture of our street – among some other randomness. After she got home and thawed out she used Filter Forge to play with her pictures. Old Drawing .03 was one of them.

This filter is remarkable not only in the quality of the effect it creates but quite unusually the creator of this filter was a one hit wonder. (unless they have more than one login)

Creating only one filter and submitting it is quite unusual. You will find that among the filters which are so popular then they have usually created more.

Comments on this filter show the usual level of support and advice as well as creative zeal – shown by the Filter Forge community.

This is a truly stunning filter from Filter Forge. It just looks so good and the setup which can be accessed by using Filter editor is a piece of mastery that anyone learning to use Filter Forge can and indeed should study.

At last I can take up basket weaving

You can learn so much by having a poke about with this one

I am so looking forward to making some baskets with this. I’ll be posting that soon.

I think Constantin makes truly eye popping filters and is clearly pooped when it comes to Descriptions and Keywords!  However — precise to the point and deceptively simple – just like the work he has produced.  Honestly make a beeline for his work when you download Filter Forge.
