Filter Forge RGB Math functions to use. ArcTangent not anything to do with Noah!

I personally always assumed that an Arc Tangent would be when the Arc carrying the animals that entered 2 by 2 detoured radically on a whim.

However apparently it’s not!  And we now have a bunch of RGB Match components in Filter Forge  to play with – look here is some.

There are more!

I would rummage in the normally very useful Help to see if I can figure these out – however as Filter Forge  is in beta testing for version 2 then they won’t have been written yet

So I guess I’ll have a play and see if I can work them out – can’t say I have played with any of these sort of things since I was 16 – sigh! So this should be fun indeed. Back later with some squiggles.

Online Filter Library – Filter Forge Features

Online Filter Library

The Filter Library at Filter Forge is a free online repository of filters submitted by Filter Forge users. You can access the Library directly from the user interface of Filter Forge. Users who contribute good filters can earn rewards, including a free copy of Filter Forge

That Free Filter Forge buisness no blag either! Even I managed it (potentially 3 copies actually) ! My filter building power is very week in comparison to the masters – if I can do it anyone can.

But back to the point The Filter Library at Filter Forge is a free online repository of filters submitted by Filter Forge users. Now that is yet again a rather stunning piece of understatement by the Filter Forge folk — you know what? I think they must be shy! The current filter library stands at nearly 7000 and grows every day. Each texture filter has many many many to gerzillions of variations. And as for the effect filters that work with your image or even a selection if you are using it as a plugin – well the results there are infinite for each one.  It is all quite staggering what you can achieve from the library without ever having to learn to use the filter editor at all!

That is why I am happy to run a Filter of the Day as it is going to take me years to tackle what is there and as the community grows and evolves along with the software then things just keep getting better. The filters made by the users are what make this product so truly stunning.

A Visual Node Based Editor – Filter Forge Features

  • March 9, 2010 5:36 pm

Filter Editor

The most important feature of  Filter Forge (please note this is according to Filter Forge themselves)– a visual node-based editor which lets you create your own visual effects and procedural textures without a single line of code.

So what is a visual node-based editor?

Well – it’s this.

Nodes are groovy

All arguments are passed visually with a  little boxed component and you are able to see in their window to how you have mucked up the original image.  It’s great. Why not go and download a trial and have a play yourself?
