Filter Forge RGB Math functions to use. ArcTangent not anything to do with Noah!

  • April 13, 2010 7:11 pm

I personally always assumed that an Arc Tangent would be when the Arc carrying the animals that entered 2 by 2 detoured radically on a whim.

However apparently it’s not!  And we now have a bunch of RGB Match components in Filter Forge  to play with – look here is some.

There are more!

I would rummage in the normally very useful Help to see if I can figure these out – however as Filter Forge  is in beta testing for version 2 then they won’t have been written yet

So I guess I’ll have a play and see if I can work them out – can’t say I have played with any of these sort of things since I was 16 – sigh! So this should be fun indeed. Back later with some squiggles.

Set the Critters Free with Filter Forge and Vue

These should run around outside in the sun!

I have put together 2  new videos that do the following

In Part 1

  • Illustrates how you can easily modify a filter to make it more useable for your needs
  • Render an Alpha Map
  • Uses ThreeDee’s stunning filter which creates delightful furry mascots.

In Part 2

  • Illustrates how to use the critters we made in Part 1 with an Alpa Map
  • We get to see the critter set free
  • Make a new theme header for FilterForgeFrenzy

Here is the rendered image that was added to the website as header.

Filter Forge 2 – Getting Started

  • February 26, 2010 8:36 pm

I have been trying to think up how to best present some of the tutorials I have in mind for Filter Forge and then it dawned on me that perhaps I should just go wild and do some frenzied stuff on video and that could be fun! So I am just going to go and record one now – well after I have had a glass of wine and done some warm up shouting exercises!

And time passes

Well I did it and here it is – just over an hour since I started – it should not have took so long but I haven’t done it before and my comuter decided to reboot – — I may have to mess with some settings to stop future ones looking so fuzzy but bey ho – it’s a start.

I mention in this video how you can gain rewards for submitting filters that get used and I thought I’d drop in my account page from Filter Forge so you can see what I mean.

Here is the blurb from Filter Forge reagrding the reward scheme and then below you can see my rewards. Truly if I can gain these then there is hope for anyone.

Yes, that’s right – you can get a free copy of Filter Forge! And other rewards too. We always seek good filters for the Filter Library, and we are willing to reward the authors who help us improve it.
To get a reward, you must earn a sufficient number of Reward Points. In our current reward program, 1 Reward Point equals 1 High Usage Rank filter. Once a filter attains the rank, it will count towards your future rewards, even if it loses its Usage Rank later.
Here are the rewards you can receive:
1 Reward Point = 20% discount coupon for any edition of Filter Forge
2 Reward Points = 50% discount coupon for any edition of Filter Forge
3 Reward Points = a free copy of Filter Forge Professional Edition
4 Reward Points = 5 coupons for a 30% discount each for any edition of Filter Forge
5 Reward Points = free lifetime upgrades to all future versions
When you choose a reward from the list above, a corresponding number of Reward Points is taken off your account, so to get more rewards you’ve got to earn more Reward Points by making more High Usage filters.
For example, suppose you had 3 High Usage Filters, which means 3 Reward Points, and you spent them to get a free copy of Filter Forge. Now you have zero points left, so, if you want to get another reward, say, free lifetime upgrades, you’ve got to earn 5 Reward Points more.
You can always look up the statistics for your Reward Points in the Your Reward Points section.
All you need to get started is a trial version of Filter Forge. Download it (if you haven’t already), learn the Filter Editor and submit great stuff – your rewards await you!

Oooh I have just checked that is good news – I have six left look– that means 2 copies of Filter Forge Professional still to claim — I have had 1 already! So $299 x 2 is really smart for a bit of messing about and enjoying myself.
